Drumlin House provides day services for adults with intellectual disabilities. We are seeking a caring and reliable Care Workers to support individuals to lead fulfilling lives through person-centred care, meaningful activities and community participation.

About the Role
Reporting to the Day Services Manager, with daily guidance from the Day Service Lead Instructor, you will provide practical care and support tailored to each person’s needs, preferences and goals.

This role focuses on direct care and implementing agreed support plans. It does not include designated Key Worker responsibilities.

Your responsibilities will include:
• Providing personal care and assistance with daily living while maintaining dignity, privacy and respect.
• Supporting eating, drinking, mobility and transfers in accordance with individual care plans and your training.
• Encouraging independence, choice and participation in meaningful activities.
• Supporting community outings, social interaction and inclusion.
• Following individual care plans, risk assessments and agreed support approaches.
• Observing and reporting changes in wellbeing or support needs.
• Maintaining accurate care records and communicating effectively with colleagues.
• Following safeguarding, health and safety, and infection prevention procedures.
• Participating in training, supervision and team meetings.

What you will bring
Essential:
• QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support or a relevant care-related discipline, or working towards an appropriate qualification.
• Experience supporting adults with disabilities, gained through paid employment or volunteering.
• An understanding of person-centred care, safeguarding and confidentiality.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• The ability to follow care plans and maintain accurate records.
• A full clean driving licence.

Desirable:
• Experience providing personal care to adults with intellectual disabilities.
• Experience in day services or community-based supports.
• Relevant training in people handling, first aid, safeguarding or infection prevention.
• Familiarity with communication supports, assistive equipment or positive behaviour support.

Contract: 12month Fixed Term
Hours: 35Hrs – Day work Only
Location: Drumlin House, Cootehill, Co. Cavan
Appointment is subject to satisfactory references and Garda vetting.
